Michael C. Butler - Vice President: Emergency Medical Expertise and Dedication to Service
Growing up near Fort Meade Army Base, Michael C. Butler's fascination with the iconic Bell UH-1N helicopter, affectionately known as the "Huey," laid the foundation for his remarkable journey into the world of emergency medical care. As a young boy, he eagerly watched these helicopters soar through the skies, igniting a lifelong passion for helping others in critical situations.
Following his heart, Mike pursued a career in the U.S. Army as a flight medic, fulfilling his childhood dream of serving on board the very helicopters that had captured his imagination. During his time as a flight medic, he witnessed the transformative impact of emergency medical care firsthand and realized that he could make an even more significant difference by directly aiding the wounded on the ground. With a courageous decision, he transitioned from the skies to the battlefield, donning a rucksack as the Company Medic for the Light Infantry.
With over 32 years of dedicated experience in the field of Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Mike's expertise and passion have led him to a prominent position as the leader of the area's premier event medical company, Special Events Medical Services (SEMS). Under his guidance, SEMS has become the trusted medical provider for some of the most prestigious events, including the President Obama Inauguration, and institutions such as the U.S. Naval Academy and CFG Arena, among others. The relationships forged by SEMS with its partners go beyond mere business dealings—they are cherished members of the SEMS' family.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mike finds solace and joy in the great outdoors. Hiking, camping, and kayaking rank among his favorite activities, with an impressive portion of the Appalachian Trail already conquered, setting the stage for his aspiration to complete the entire trail.
Mike's dedication to service extends far beyond his professional responsibilities. In his spare time, he actively volunteers with various organizations, including The CF Foundation, MS Society, and "Heroes on the Water." The latter, a remarkable group offering kayak fishing experiences to veterans and first responders, plays a vital role in reducing symptoms of post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injuries. This noble endeavor provides participants with an opportunity to reconnect with themselves and others, while honoring the invaluable sacrifices made by those who have served our nation.
Michael C. Butler's journey from a young boy mesmerized by helicopters to a seasoned emergency medical expert and compassionate volunteer serves as a testament to his unwavering commitment to the well-being of others. Whether leading SEMS' efforts or supporting those in need, his tireless dedication and expertise have made a lasting impact on countless lives.
